The Taizé service at St Leonard's follows the structure of a Prayer Service which is held three times a day at an Ecumenical Monastic Community in the village of Taizé, France.
The service is made up of three elements: song, liturgy and silence.
The songs written by the monks of Taizé are in many languages and reflect the diverse range of nationalities who visit the community at Taizé.
The words of the songs are simple and offer the basic essentials of Christianity in these few words.
The liturgy element is made up of short sections from the Bible. The final element is the silence which takes place about mid-way through the service and offers an opportunity for personal prayer.
The Taizé prayer service will take place from 7pm on every 3rd Sunday of the Month
